My mother-in-law and I started going to The Wednesday Music Club
of Orlando and Winter Park as a family thing. When Grandma Rhodes was
alive she would go too. We enjoyed our family time together. It was there
I met
Grace and husband Harold Sanford.
When they were President of the Music Club I made them each an
achievement
book. View Achievement Books @

Orlando & Winter Park.
It wasn't until Harold pass away in 1991 that Grace felt she
needed some
help around the house. Talk about a pivotal moment. I was between jobs as
luck would have it. Grace was looking for a housekeeper. What she
got was
"Martha Stewart." Whatever problem Grace would have, I had an
answer
to help her solve it. I would cater her parties and decorate her
home
for the different holidays. I shopped, chauffeured and made her
items.
I gave her something to look forward to and gave meaning to her life.
She really looked forward to our time together.
I built a business around Grace. Responsibilities grew as she aged and
needed
more attention. I watched out for Grace's well being and called the house
often.
I was there when there wasn't anyone else.
I brought Grace fresh flowers, since she could no longer see the
ones outside.
Grace was a very special person.
Grace called me her personal secretary, The Boss, Linda or
Grace's personal favorite "Angel."
I came to work for Grace in 1994. In nine years I can say Grace
& I
only had one disagreement. Even then voices were not raised.
We had a kinship of spirit. I have learned a lot from her and she
would say the same of me.
I was everything to her as her world was getting smaller. Her
scoliosis
was getting worse along with her eyesight. Retreating to the confines
of her home.
She was the last member of her family still living, and except for
a
great nephew, his mother and sister they are the last of the Sanfords.
Since they lived out west , I don't believe Grace had ever met them.
I came along when she needed someone to count on. We had an
unbreakable "Bond" no pun intended.
This Angel had one more wish to fill. The first wish has already
come
true. Grace got to remain at her home until she passed away.
It was so important to her not to go to a retirement home. I was
there to see that happen. At 981/2 years old Grace passed away
on Valentine's Day February 14, 2003.
The second wish... Not to be forgotten...
I hope with this web-site, the world will see and hear
what wonderful musicians The Sanfords really were.
I was glad to help an Angel get her wings.
